CHS Opens Second Terminal Parking Garage

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Charleston International Airport opened a second state-of-the-art parking facility today at a ceremonial ribbon-cutting that included members of the Charleston County Airport Authority Board, LS3P Associates Ltd, Roy Anderson Corporation, and CHS Airport Executive Director and CEO Elliott Summey and others.

Identified as “Daily Parking Garage,” it’s the airport’s newest parking option, adding more than 2,400 convenient spaces and a variety of customer amenities. The five-tiered garage provides access to the airport terminal with a pedestrian plaza that features state of the art security monitoring system, Kiosks with monitors displaying flight information, and digital message display monitors.

Additionally, the nearly 500 space pick-up/return Rental Car Ready Lot at CHS is located on Level 1 of the new garage and offers customers covered walkways to and from the terminal; state of the art security; and premium services to most rental car company customers to name just a few. A new traffic circle will steer drivers to the new parking deck, with separate entrances for parking on the upper levels and rental car area on the ground floor.

“Today’s ceremony is a milestone for both Charleston International Airport and our entire community,” said Elliott Summey, airport executive director and CEO. “It’s a pleasure to celebrate our airport’s opening of this beautiful new garage as we navigate our pandemic recovery. This facility is part of a forward-thinking strategy that provides for today’s customer needs and anticipates tomorrow’s growth.”

"The Daily Parking Garage is a key component of our long-range commitment to ensuring the airport's infrastructure meets our community's needs. I applaud the team for delivering a facility that emphasizes customer experience, and I congratulate them for completing this project on time and within budget, despite hurricane and pandemic challenges," said Helen Hill, CEO of Explore Charleston and Chairman of the Aviation Authority Board. "As air travel returns, the CHS team is excited to display our region's renowned hospitality and showcase why we were again voted one of the nation's best airports."
